Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne S.A. will receive PLN 1.3 billion from the National Recovery Plan (KPO)
Seven investment projects involving the construction or modernization of transmission lines will be co-financed with non-refundable funds from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (KPO).
On Monday, May 26, two agreements were signed by Minister of Climate and Environment Paulina Hennig-Kloska and the President of Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne (PSE), Grzegorz Onichimowski.
The total funding amounts to nearly PLN 1.3 billion.
The EU-backed projects include the modernization of the 220 kV Świebodzice – Ząbkowice and Połaniec – Chmielów lines, and the construction of 400 kV lines: Kozienice – Miłosna, Choczewo – Żarnowiec, and Mikułowa – Świebodzice, along with the expansion of the Świebodzice and Mikułowa substations. Funding will also support the modernization of the existing section of the 400 kV Trębaczew – Joachimów/Dobrzeń line, the addition of a second circuit on the Ostrów – Kromolice line, and the expansion of the Ostrów and Kromolice substations. All projects are to be completed by the end of June 2026.
"Today we are taking another step toward a safe energy transition that guarantees the stable operation of the power system. In addition to building new zero-emission energy sources, we must expand the system and adapt it to new challenges. We need to increase the grid’s capacity to absorb energy from new sources. I am very pleased that we have reached the point where National Recovery Plan funds are supporting the development of the transmission system, strengthening Poland’s energy security," said Minister Paulina Hennig-Kloska.
"The KPO funds will be used to implement projects that are key to national energy security. We are also in talks with the Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego regarding a preferential loan from KPO funds. This will help reduce the financial burden on consumers for necessary grid infrastructure investments," said PSE President Grzegorz Onichimowski.
PSE, the transmission system operator, is currently implementing the largest investment program in its history. Over the next decade, nearly 5,000 km of 400 kV lines and 28 new substations will be built, while 110 existing ones will be modernized. The planned investments are detailed at inwestycje.pse.pl.
