Enea has secured over PLN 9 billion to develop a modern distribution network

The Enea Group has signed a loan agreement with Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego for PLN 9.13 billion, financed through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (KPO). The funds will be used to develop the Group’s modern power infrastructure, including the construction and modernization of distribution networks using smart grid technologies.

The funds will be provided to Enea by Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK) under investment measure G3.1.4: “Support for the National Energy System (Energy Support Fund),” component G (RePowerEU). They will be allocated for connecting consumers and energy sources to the smart power grid, developing and modernizing the distribution network in line with modern smart grid standards, and expanding communication systems and IT solutions supporting grid operations. The investments will cover nearly the entire area of operations of Enea Operator, the distribution company within the Enea Group.

"Signing the agreement with BGK is one of the key steps in the transformation of our distribution network. With these funds, we are accelerating infrastructure modernization, which will enhance the country’s energy security, enable more efficient connection of renewable energy sources, and support the active participation of energy consumers in the market. We are pursuing the goals outlined in the Enea Group Development Strategy through 2035 and contributing to the country’s energy transition," said Grzegorz Kinelski, President of Enea.
"I would like to sincerely thank the employees of the Enea Group for their dedication throughout the preparation process and for developing the documentation required to obtain funding from the National Recovery Plan," added Grzegorz Kinelski.

With the funds obtained from the loan, Enea Operator plans to finance the construction and modernization of several thousand kilometers of power lines. These investments will enable the connection of additional megawatts of new generation capacity, including those from renewable energy sources (RES). These actions will significantly contribute to achieving climate goals, notably by substantially reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
