PLN 6 billion for electromobility funding
Deputy Minister of Climate and Environment Krzysztof Bolesta announced three calls for applications for electromobility support starting the 11th calendar week. The total funding will be PLN 6 billion. Bolesta added that the funding will cover electric trucks, fast chargers, and networks enabling their connection.
At a meeting of the Parliamentary Subcommittee on Just Transition, the Deputy Minister of Climate announced that in addition to the existing support system for purchasing electric vehicles (with a budget of PLN 1.6 billion), the ministry is working on three other calls for applications for electromobility funding.
"Starting next week, several calls will be announced: PLN 2 billion for electric trucks, PLN 2 billion for fast chargers, and PLN 2 billion for networks enabling the connection of these fast chargers," Krzysztof Bolesta said.
He added that, in addition to these programs, the ministry has received a positive decision on granting state aid from the Modernization Fund for energy storage. "We will launch the calls within a few weeks; this is also a large budget that will support storage facilities with a minimum capacity of 4 MWh," he stated. He further mentioned that the ministry aims for the program to deliver energy storage facilities with a total capacity of 5.4 GWh.
The Modernization Fund is financed by revenues from the sale of 4.5% of the total pool of CO₂ emission allowances under the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS). The European Investment Bank (EIB) sells these allowances in semi-annual tranches. According to estimates, Poland could receive approximately PLN 60 billion from the Modernization Fund between 2021 and 2030.
