PGE obtained extra PLN 1.1 billion from BGK under the KPO for projects strengthening Poland's energy security
PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna signed annexes to two loan agreements concluded in March 2025 with Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK) as part of the National Reconstruction Plan. A total of nearly PLN 13.2 billion will be allocated to PGE from this program for energy distribution and rail energy projects. According to the PGE Group's strategy, capital expenditures on PGE Dystrybucja and PGE Energetyka Kolejowa projects are expected to total PLN 75 billion by 2035.
The development of power grids is one of the key objectives of the Energy Support Fund, established as part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (KPO). The annexes to the loan agreements between PGE and BGK, totaling over PLN 1.1 billion, signed today complement the support already received for the implementation of the PGE Group's strategic energy projects. The full amount, nearly PLN 13.2 billion, will further strengthen the country's energy security, improve the quality of power grids, and accelerate the integration of renewable energy sources into the energy system. The intra-group loan agreements will enable the transfer of financing to PGE Dystrybucja and PGE Energetyka Kolejowa.
"Thanks to additional agreements with BGK, the total value of PGE Group projects financed under the National Recovery Plan in the areas of rail distribution and energy has increased to PLN 13.2 billion. The funds raised will enable the acceleration of modernization, digitalization, and expansion of infrastructure, which forms the nervous system of the entire energy system. Without it, there can be no stable energy supply, the development of renewable energy sources, or a modern railway in Poland. This is a key moment for PGE and the entire Polish energy sector – we have begun a decade of investments worth PLN 75 billion in rail distribution and energy." said Dariusz Marzec, President of the Management Board of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna.
