Google Announces Multi-Billion Investments in Poland
Prime Minister Donald Tusk met with Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai in Warsaw’s Praga Koneser Center. The Polish Development Fund and Google signed a memorandum of cooperation, and the company will invest multi-billion dollars in Poland. These investments are expected to boost the country's GDP by 8%.
The development of digital technologies, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), is crucial for Poland’s economic growth. To support this, the Polish Development Fund (PFR) has signed a memorandum of cooperation with Google, focusing on the implementation of AI solutions in Polish institutions and businesses.
"Thank you for signing this memorandum between Google and the Polish Development Fund. We are creating a framework that will also enable greater investment engagement from Google in Poland," said Prime Minister Donald Tusk after meeting with Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai.
As part of this initiative, Google will launch a digital skills training program for Polish citizens.
"Google has committed to joining educational efforts and training one million Poles in modern tools—mainly artificial intelligence. This is great news for millions, especially young Poles, as it will significantly enhance their development, investment opportunities, and security," emphasized Tusk at the Google for Startups Campus in Warsaw.
The discussions also covered cooperation in AI, energy, and cybersecurity.
"We talked about the immense opportunities for Poland in the AI sector. Poland’s leadership, ambition, and talent are giving the country a new position in European innovation. Today, Poland is the largest engineering hub, with over 2,000 employees. Google has been building Poland’s tech ecosystem for more than 20 years," said Sundar Pichai during a joint statement.
The memorandum will help bolster Poland’s cybersecurity and support the country's energy transition. Google projects that this collaboration will contribute to an 8% increase in Poland’s GDP.
