Energa-Operator to Order Over 700,000 Smart Meters

Energa-Operator has announced a tender for the procurement of over 700,000 smart meters (AMI). This order will enable the company to become the first Distribution System Operator (DSO) in Poland to provide remote metering for all consumers connected to its network.

The procurement process has been divided into two lots to ensure supplier diversification. The contractor submitting the most advantageous bid will be awarded 60% of the order, while the next best offer will receive the remaining 40%.

In addition to the total supply of more than 700,000 metering devices, the tender also includes the purchase of over 35,000 LTE fallback communication modems.

The procurement procedure has already been published on the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy's Competitive Bidding Platform.

The meters will be installed across the network in 2026 and 2027, replacing both the remaining traditional metering systems and existing smart meters that now require recertification due to the expiration of their legal metrology validity.

Energa-Operator aims to provide smart metering for all its network users by the end of 2026 at the latest.

Remote metering offers a number of benefits to customers, including faster tariff group changes, the ability to adopt dynamic tariffs, and access to a range of new services currently under development at Energa-Operator, which are expected to be rolled out in the near future.
