Enea Operator has concluded a tender for the purchase of 3 million meters
As part of its mass replacement program for measurement systems among individual consumers with remote reading meters, Enea Operator conducted an innovative partnership procedure for the design, production, and delivery of meters between 2025 and 2030.
In the first phase, Enea Operator will receive 600,000 units worth nearly PLN 250 million. By 2030, the company plans to allocate approximately PLN 1.3 billion for the delivery of so-called smart meters.
Before launching the procurement process, Enea Operator assessed the feasibility of acquiring devices that meet all the requirements of the Energy Law, implementing regulations, and additional internal expectations.
The tender was organized as an innovative partnership, covering the design, production, and supply of remote reading meters for the entire implementation period. The meters will feature numerous innovative solutions, including communication with Enea Operator’s metering system via an eSIM module using GSM technology.
Enea Operator has signed agreements with four partners:
✅ a consortium of Politech and Iskraemeco,
✅ Sagemcom Poland,
✅ Apator S.A.,
✅ Landis +Gyr.
These manufacturers will supply 600,000 remote reading meters in the first phase, with a total of 3 million units to be delivered by 2030.
“Enea Operator's purchase of remote reading meters aims not only to fulfill the legal obligation under the Energy Law. The functionalities implemented in these meters will enable better management and monitoring of energy consumption by consumers while providing the company with real-time data on power quality, flexible management of network operations, and the expansion of the distribution grid—critical aspects amid the ongoing energy transition. We anticipate that the data collected from the meters will contribute to the optimal use of investment funds for grid expansion and modernization,” said Marek Szymankiewicz, President of Enea Operator.
Following the signing of the innovative partnership agreements, Enea Operator will actively collaborate with all four partners to develop the meters and begin installation. The company is committed to a swift rollout, as it will be able to leverage meter-generated data and events for other operational tasks, such as push-mode data transmission and peripheral device control. Given the evolving nature of grid operations, the additional functionalities of LZO meters will enhance distribution network management and improve many of the company's service processes.
The first meters will be delivered to Enea Operator in the second half of 2025, marking the start of their installation.
