KPO Funds for TAURON’s Modern Lighting System
TAURON Nowe Technologie has received support from the KPO for designing and implementing a system to manage lighting infrastructure. The IT tool will be 60% co-financed from external funds. The agreement with the Ministry of State Assets was signed on January 3 of this year.
The new system is one of two initiatives of the TAURON Group that has been included in the list of strategic projects under the action "Investments Supporting Robotization and Digitization in Enterprises" from the National Reconstruction Plan and selected for funding. As a result, TAURON Nowe Technologie will receive a grant of up to PLN 8.6 million to implement this project.
The new IT system will enable the collection of all data regarding TAURON’s lighting infrastructure in one place and will allow for the standardization of lighting work processes.
“The IT tool being developed will ultimately improve the quality of activities related to providing lighting services to municipalities. Thanks to advanced IT infrastructure, we will be able to invest more effectively and precisely in our lighting assets so that as many municipalities as possible can benefit from modern lighting,” said Bartłomiej Wyczałkowski, President of TAURON Nowe Technologie.
TAURON Nowe Technologie owns approximately 600,000 lighting points, making it the leading provider of lighting services for municipalities in southern Poland. The company invests tens of millions of PLN annually in the modernization and development of lighting. However, it is important to note that the lighting assets consist of many components, including overhead lines, cable lines, control points, poles, and light fittings. Every year, the company undertakes numerous investments related to the modernization, expansion, and improvement of its assets. This is why precise planning, execution, and accounting for all commissioned investment tasks are so crucial, which will be facilitated by the new IT system.
Street and road lighting is a key element of urban infrastructure. Therefore, it is expected that the new IT system will make communication and cooperation with local authorities easier in terms of ongoing investments, ensuring that the tasks of each party complement each other. The shared goal of both TAURON and Local Government Units is to improve the safety and quality of life for residents.
The work related to preparing the system is expected to be completed by mid-2026.
